Injury boost for Croatia
15/06/2006: Team doctor Zoran Bahtijarevi is confident that skipper Niko Kovac will recover from a rib injury in time for their game against Japan.
The 24-year-old midfielder suffered a blow to his ribs during their 1-0 defeat to Brazil, after a heavy challenge from Roberto towards the end of the first-half.
Team coach Zlatko Kranjcar said that he was anxiously waiting news on his fitness, but admitted that he wasn't sure if he would feature in any of their other group matches.
However, Kovac joined the team today during a training session, but was forced to stop after just 15 minutes.
