Iniesta looking to impress

22/06/2006: Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta is hoping to make his mark against Saudi Arabia and force his way into the first choice line-up.

The Barcelona star has yet to appear for coach Luis Aragones and the side have looked impressive with opening victories over Ukraine and Tunisia to top Group H.

Spain now take on the Saudis in Berlin on Friday and Aragones is expected to make wholesale changes to the team and rest his stars for the second round clash next week.

Iniesta, who is behind Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Cesc Fabregas and Marcos Senna in the pecking order, is now set to start against the Sons of the Desert and is keenly looking forward to making his World Cup bow.

"I cannot wait to make my World Cup debut," said Iniesta.

"I hope everything goes well and more importantly, that I can contribute to Spain's third consecutive victory.

"I can play in all three positions in midfield. It wouldn't be a problem.

"All I want is to prove that I'm ready whenever the coach needs me."
