Holland v Ivory Coast

16/06/2006: Although the Netherlands are just a 1.6 to one bet to beat the Ivory Coast in their Group C match up, many betting fans will think that at around four to one, it might be worth putting their money on the lively Africans to pull off an upset in what has been called the "group of death".

The Dutch will probably be wondering how they only managed a 1-0 victory in their opening game against Serbia and Montenegro, after the side played extremely well and dominated the game.

Their inspirational winger Arjen Robben has put in the best individual performance of the 2006 World Cup so far, with a sparkling display of dribbling.

Defenders were unable to cope with the threat Robben posed with his quick runs and close ball control.

Decked out in orange boots to match the traditional all-orange strip of the Netehrlands, the Chelsea man really lived up to his star billing.

Yet although many will be betting, at , on another Dutch victory against the Ivory Coast, the Ivorians showed enough in their opening game against Argentina to suggest that Robben and co won't have it all their own way in the match.

Although Argentina won the game 2-1, there was not an obvious gulf in class between the South American stars and the Africans.

The two teams were separated by the fact that Argentina were slightly more clinical in front of goal.

For the Ivory Coast, front man Didier Drogba was a constant threat and the Dutch defence will have a tough time dealing with him.

He has much more in his game than Serbian striker Kezman, the man that Drogba replaced when he arrived at Chelsea.

Arsenal's Kolo Toure also looked like a dominant force, with his exceptional pace helping to get his lesser team mates out of trouble from time to time during the match.

Holland's defence was rarely tested in their opening game, but that is sure to change with players such as Arsenal's Emmanuel Eboue making surging runs from the right back position.

If the Ivory Coast can take their chances, they have every chance of pulling off an upset against one of the favourites for the trophy.
