Hargreaves expects World Cup place
15/04/2006: England star Owen Hargreaves is confident he will receive a World Cup call up from Sven Goran-Eriksson.
The tough tackling midfield player has been absent most of the season with a groin injury, but has played in Bayern Munich's last five games and feels he should be in line for a England recall.
"Eriksson has always treated me very well," he said. "When I am healthy he has always picked me to play.
"I missed a lot of games this year and it has been difficult but I played five 90 minutes in a row and I am feeling better every game. I am sure he is keeping an eye on me."
The 25-year-old is expecting big things this summer from England.
"We have a great team," Hargreaves added. "We have a lot of opportunities, possibilities and players. Obviously I feel I can help the team to be successful but it is up to Eriksson to decide what he thinks is best."
Owen Hargreaves' last England performance came in the abysmal 1-0 defeat against Northern Ireland in September. Mainly used as a substitute, he started games at the last World Cup against Argentina and Sweden.
