Grand Old Yorke to pull strings

08/06/2006: Dwight Yorke will play in midfield in Trinidad and Tobago's first World Cup game against Sweden on Saturday.

The FC Sydney star has gradually played his way into the role after spending much of his playing career as a striker.

At 34 Leo Beenhacker, the coach believes the the much-decorated former Manchester United player is better suited to that role these days.

Beenhakker said: "I know my team for the first game and I have also decided on the position of Dwight Yorke.

"He has to play in between the midfield and the strikers and not as a target man anymore."

Beenhakker expressed his astonishment at the effect the tournament was having on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago.

He added: "It's so amazing that just playing some football matches and being a little bit successful can change a whole society.

"It's a fantastic feeling when you can make 1.5 million people happy."
