Ghana fix up Nice friendly
04/05/2006: Ghana have had to rearrange their World Cup warm-up games due to clubs being unwilling to release their stars.
The first-time World Cup finalists had been due to play two games in Russia, but the Ghanaian FA changed its mind when realising the player crisis.
"Clubs are refusing to release our players because Russia is too far," GFA spokesperson Randy Abbey said to BBC Sport.
"As it is not an international date for friendlies, we cannot compel them to release the players."
The Black Stars will now play against French club side Nice on May 9. Many of their top stars will be missing however, with the Italian and German leagues not due to finish until after the game.
