France will cope with the heat

13/06/2006: France boss Raymond Domenech believes the veterans in his side have the experience to cope with the heat in Germany.

Les Bleus begin their World Cup campaign on Tuesday against a youthful Switzerland side in their opening Group G encounter in Stuttgart and questions have been raised of how the ageing stars in the France line-up, such as Zinedine Zidane, will handle the temperatures that have troubled other teams so far in this tournament.

Five of the World Cup winners in 1998 are likely to start Tuesday's clash while Swiss coach Kobi Kuhn is looking to rebuild his side as they are co-hosting the European Championships in 2008.

Domenech though believes that his side will show the know-how to cope with his younger opponents.

Domenech said: "You can say there are advantages and disadvantages and I don't think it will be a factor on the day.

"It might become a factor as the competition progresses but everything will depend on the quality of the preparation work done by both teams.

"The Swiss will be playing at the same place as us and in the same conditions.

"It will be the same for all of us."
