France feeling together

23/06/2006: France midfield ace Patrick Vieira has told of the confidence and team spirit that exists in Raymond Domenech's squad.

France booked their place in the second round of the World Cup in dramatic fashion after goals from Vieira and Thierry Henry gave them a 2-0 win over Togo. That victory, combined with defeat for South Korea against Switzerland, saw the 1998 World Champions secure the runners-up spot in Group G and a meeting with highly-fancied Spain.

After France's opening 0-0 draw against Switzerland many pundits were saying that the side was past its best. However, they have proved their critics wrong by progressing from the group stages and Juventus man Vieira says that they have one eye on reaching the final.

He said: "The France team is feeling very well, we are getting on very well together and from this point on we want to go all the way."
