FA plan FIFA fluids appeal
11/06/2006: The FA plan to ask FIFA to ensure players are granted greater access to fluids during games to combat soaring temperatures in Germany.
England players visibly suffered in the heat during Saturday's 1-0 win over Paraguay and lost on average between five and 10lbs as a result.
The problem was exacerbated by difficulty in getting water to the players during the Frankfurt encounter.
FA spokesman Adrian Bevington said: "We will make a communication to Fifa, certainly not a complaint, because the medical staff were concerned.
"We went through 70 litres of water when normally we go through something in the region of 20."
