Eto'o hails star arrivals

23/07/2006: Samuel Eto'o believes the recent captures of Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta has everyone running scared of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants are the reigning Spanish champions whilst they also enjoyed success in the Champions League after beating Arsenal 2-1 in the final.

Coach Frank Rijkaard has since strengthened the squad and snapped up two quality defenders in Thuram and Zambrotta from Juventus following the Turin giants' demotion to Serie B for their part in the match-fixing scandal in Italy.

Eto'o now feels that the signing of the two World Cup winners, plus the return from injury of both Xavi and Lionel Messi will make Barca almost unbeatable.

The Cameroon hitman told DiarioSport: "I do not know if we're invincible, but it is clear that we will scare any opponent. We are the current champions of the Liga and Europe. The enemies respect us.

"Our game is admired, our players win all the prizes available. We are the rival to beat because nobody was better than us last season. The objective is to continue improve.

"We also have Xavi and Lionel Messi fit again! Xavi is the best midfield player in the world. Only Iniesta is his equal.

"Messi is something exceptional. A 'crack' in capital letters. The best player I have seen at 19 years of age. With them on the field, we really will be unstoppable."
