England v Trinidad and Tobago

Support ENGLAND!14/06/2006: Few would have given lowly Trinidad and Tobago a chance of managing to gain a point at the World Cup finals.

Yet the smallest country ever to take part in the tournament managed to radically upset the odds when they pulled off a shock draw in their first game against a much fancied Sweden side, thought to be one of the most attacking sets of players ever produced by Sweden.

Yet the fire-power provided by the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Larsson and Freddie Ljungberg wasn't enough to breach the goal line of the West Indians, thanks in no small part to their veteran goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

At the ripe old age of 37, Shaka knew that he would have to put in some of the performances of his life if Trinidad and Tobago were to come away from Germany with anything to show for their efforts - against Sweden that is exactly what he did.

The English players will know Shaka well, of course, as he has spent his career playing in England.

Despite the collective heroics of the Trinidad and Tobago side against Sweden, the outsiders may find it even tougher to get anything out of the game against England, one of the favourites to win the competition.

Just eight to one to walk away with the trophy, you'll be hard pushed to find a book maker who will take a bet on England to beat Shaka and the boys.

And it has now been rumoured that England's star man Wayne Rooney may now make a shock appearance in the game after breaking his foot just weeks ago.

The Manchester United striker is now back in full training and will no doubt be chomping at the bit to make it out onto the pitch to face Trinidad and Tobago.

Despite coming off after less than an hour, the T&T defenders may also be having nightmares about defending against Michael Owen, who is still recovering match fitness after breaking his foot while playing for Newcastle.

If those two aren't enough for the one thousand to one outsiders, then perhaps the sight of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard arriving in the box may trouble them, not to mention the dribbling of Joe Cole and the metronomic consistency of Beckham's crossing.

It would take a brave man to bet on England losing the game, but with the heart that Trinidad and Tobago have shown already, maybe the impossible just might happen. Find the best odds at

18/06/2006: England can only win from "holding" goals - obviously in that match against the smallest nation - England had a 12th man on the field the REFEREE.

18/06/2006: Trinidad were so negative though. You spoilt the game for those watching by keeping eleven men behind the ball - at all times!
