Enforced changes for Czech date

19/06/2006: Italy boss Marcello Lippi has a number of injury doubts ahead of their crucial Group E clash with Czech Republic.

Midfielder Simone Perrotta suffered a heavy knock to his thigh towards the end of the game against USA on Saturday which ended in a surprise 1-1 draw but he was forced to continue as Lippi had already made his three substitutions.

Daniele De Rossi is suspended for the final group game after picking up a straight red card for an elbow on Brian McBride so Lippi is sweating over the fitness of Perrotta as Gennaro Gattuso is not yet fully fit following his groin problem.

Team doctor Enrico Castellacci said: "He suffered a heavy blow to his upper right leg. He may be able to recover but we will have to wait for further tests. We will only be able to confirm his availability on Wednesday."

Lippi also has injury problems up front as Vincenzo Iaquinta has suffered a suspected fractured finger during a training session and has been sent to hospital while Alberto Gilardino picked up an ankle injury and now faces a race against time to be fit to face the Czechs, with Italy needing a point to confirm their passage to the knockout stages.
