El Tri warm up with win

06/05/2006: Close to 60,000 people watched Mexico beat Venezuela in a World Cup 2006 warm-up game in Pasadena.

The scoreline belied a strong performance from the Mexicans who were value for more than the one goal.

It was Omar Bravo who sealed the win with a 58th minute penalty after Jesús Arellano had been up-ended in the area by Cichero.

The game marked a comeback for striker Antonio Naelson (or Zinha as he prefers) who was playing for the first time since damaging knee ligaments two months ago.

"Fortunately, things felt natural," Zinha said.

"I think it was good, considering I hadn't played for two months."

The Mexicans have two more tune-up games before their World Cup group games begin. They play DR Congo at the Aztec Stadium on May 12 and France in Holland on May 27.

Mexico's first World Cup game is against Iran in Nuremburg on Sunday, June 11, kick off 5:00pm
