Edmilson on the mend

20/07/2006: Barcelona star Edmilson has come through his first full training session following surgery on his knee back in early June.

The Brazilian was forced to miss the World Cup after tearing a cartilage in his right knee during training with the national squad in Switzerland in late May and went under the surgeon's knife on June 1.

Following a period of rest when he watched his compatriots fall to France at the quarter-final stage of the World Cup, the 30-year-old has undergone physiotherapy and has been given the all-clear to begin training with the rest of the Catalan squad.

The former Lyon star came through the session, saying: "I felt very good and did not notice any pain."

The talented schemer missed the majority of his first season at the Nou Camp after tearing the cruciate ligament in his right knee but is hoping to bounce back yet again as Barca seek a third consecutive La Liga title.
