Deco
03/05/2006: Anderson Luiz de Sousa, better known as Deco, has become known as a gifted playmaker, currently playing for FC Barcelona and Portugal.
Despite being born in Brazil, Deco was called up to play for Portugal in 1998. He made his international debut in 2003 against his home country. Only playing for eight minutes, Deco managed to score a free kick which left his countrymen going home from a 2-1 defeat.
Under the wing of Jose Mourinho, Deco lead an impressive Porto team, winning the UEFA Cup in 2003 and the Champions League in 2004, finishing the latter season with a 3-0 victory against AS Monaco. Deco had scored the second goal.
As a result of the campaign, Deco picked up the UEFA award for the Most Valuable Player, and also picked up a gong for the best midfielder in the competition.
Prior to the European championships in 2004, Deco made noises in the Portuguese media that he was looking to move with Mourinho to Chelsea. However, the deal never came to fruition, and instead Deco switched from Porto to Barcelona after the Euro 2004 final.
It is likely the club will keep him until 2010, after he signed a new deal in 2005.

26/06/2006: Liked deco ever since I saw him win the Porto championship in 2004. I immediatetly fell in love with him. He is an awesome midfielder and a very essential player to the Portuguese team. Although he is one of the shortest players on the team, he is still one of the fastest and the strongest. I hope he keeps up the good work and I look forward to seeing him play with Barcelona in their new season and I ultimately hope to meet him one day as he is such an inspiration to me.
27/06/2006: Deco is one of the most underrated players in the game, he does it all: he tackles, defends, steals and recovers the ball, keeps possession, sets up plays and scores goals. He is probably the most complete midfielder in the game of football. Awesome player.
01/07/2006: Deco is the best and I love him so much. Too bad he got a red card in the second round. My heart was broken because I really wanted to see him in the quarter finals against England! Oh well, he was buffer then ever and I enjoyed watching him play.

06/10/2006: I followed Deco plays since I saw him for the first time in 2002, when he was still playing for Porto. Since then, he keeps thrilling me with his football skills. He is amazing, one of the most complete midfielders in today`s football, and certainly one of the best ones. If he continues to play on the same level, he will be remembered as one of the player`s that represented best first decade of 21st century.
08/12/2006: Deco (and Marcos Nelson form Benfica) are my ABSOLUTELY favourite football players:D They ABSOLUTELY ROCK!!! I love them both sooo much. Portugal national team is absolutely the best:D I hope they'll win EURO 2008 . When they lost wiht Poland on 11th October'06 (I'm from Poland) I was soooo sad. I thought I will kill myslef!!! But I didn't :P Wish you good luck, Deco!!!!
