David Trezeguet

01/06/2006: Despite the fact that he has scored 31 goals for his country, David Trezeguet currently faces a battle to secure a starting place in the French side for the World Cup group matches.

He was disappointing in a recent friendly against Mexico, which the French eventually won 1-0 and for the latest warm up match, Trezeguet was dropped to the bench.

The good performances by Thierry Henry and Manchester United's Louis Saha in the 2-0 win over Denmark could have ended David's hopes of a berth in the starting eleven.

But it is more a sign of France's quality in the forward positions rather than a reflection on Trezeguet's ability.

With all the events taking place at Juventus at the moment as the club faces a corruption investigation, rumours have emerged linking David Trezeguet with some Premiership sides.

Before he decides on his club future however, he will want to put things right on the pitch for France in Germany.

08/07/2006: Why isn't he starting for France? 32 goals in 65 matches for France (equates to a goal every other game).
