Czechs overpower Warriors
04/06/2006: The Czech Republic beat fellow finalists Trinidad and Tobago in each of their last World Cup 2006 friendly matches.
Jan Koller, returning from a long injury lay-off, scored two goals in his side's 3-0 victory that leaves Trinidad and Tobago having not won any of their warm-up games in Europe having already lost to Wales and Slovenia.
Koller grabbed his first after just six minutes before Pavel Nedved made it 2-0 before the half hour.
Czech coach Karel Bruckner played almost his strongest side and it showed with the Soca Warriors outclassed and it could have been more emphatic had Kelvin Jack not been outstanding in goal.
Koller wrapped up the scoring in the 40th minute with the Czechs unable to convert any of the chances they created in a quieter second half.
Soca Warriors coach Leo Beenhacker was upset but not too disheartened by the performance. He said:
"My players are not used to this way of football, to football they especially play here in Europe.
"It's much faster and much more physical than they're normally used in their clubs.
"I prefer to have the problems now … I prefer that my players are surprised now instead of next week after the Sweden match."
