Bruckner takes chance on injury worries
15/05/2006: Karel Bruckner selected all five players with injury doubts when announcing the Czech Republic World Cup squad on Monday.
His main concern, now that Jan Koller has proved his fitness, is former Liverpool striker Vladamir Smicer who has been troubled by a knee injury.
Karel Poborsky, Zdenek Grygera and Vratislav Lokvenc are the other three whose participation had been in doubt through injury.
"This squad was created for Euro 2004 in Portugal, with the 2006 World Cup in mind," said coach Karel Bruckner.
"Koller has showed a big improvement in his health, I have no doubt about his participation.
"Regarding Smicer, the doctors are giving fairly high gaurantees that he will be okay. If that is not the case, Libor Sionko or Rudolf Skacel of Hearts will be ready."

Defenders: Zdenek Grygera (Ajax), Marek Jankulovski (AC Milan), Martin Jiranek (Spartak Moscow), Pavel Mares (Zenit St Petersburg), David Rozehnal (Paris St Germain), Tomas Ujfalusi (Fiorentina), Radoslav Kovac (Spartak Moscow).
Midfielders: Tomas Galasek (Ajax), Vladimir Smicer (Bordeaux), David Jarolim (Hamburg SV), Pavel Nedved (Juventus), Jaroslav Plasil (Monaco), Karel Poborsky (Ceske Budejovice), Jan Polak (Nuremberg), Tomas Rosicky (Borussia Dortmund).
Strikers: Marek Heinz (Galatasaray), Jan Koller (Borussia Dortmund), Vratislav Lokvenc (Red Bull Salzburg), Jiri Stajner (Hanover 96), Milan Baros (Aston Villa).
The Czech Republic face Italy and Ghana after playing their opening game against the United States in Gelsenkirchen on Monday June 12.
