Cruz wants to test England ace

22/06/2006: Villa's Ecuador defender Ulises de la Cruz has warned England not to expect an easy passage in to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

The South Americans face Sven Goran Eriksson's men in Stuttgart in the second round on Sunday and say they are determined to bounce-back form their 3-0 Group A defeat to Germany and send England crashing out of the tournament.

De la Cruz said: "Why shouldn't we beat them? No one thought we had a chance of getting through the group stage and we did, so why shouldn't it continue?

"We lost to Germany, but our confidence is strong and the focus is on the next match. It is difficult for us, England have good players and a good squad. But this match is difficult for both teams. There are no easy games in this competition.

"We're making Ecuadorian football history and our aim is to stay in this competition for a long time. We will be no pushovers. We proved in the group that we are capable of winning games in the World Cup and I don't see any reason why we can't carry on with a shock against England.
