Croatia cane Austria
24/05/2006: Croatia embarked on its first in a series of World Cup warm-up games by defeating Austria 4-1 including a brace from Ivan Klasnic.
The German-born striker put Croatia ahead in the 11th minute assisted by Dado Prso with Andreas Ivanschitz levelling for the Austrians three minutes later.
Klasnic scored a well taken individual effort to put Croatia ahead after 35 minutes before Marko Babic made it 3-1 shortly after half-time. Former Aston Villa man Bosko Balaban completed the route from a free-kick in the 70th minute.
Croatia will play further warm-up games against Iran on Sunday, Poland on June 3 and finally Spain on June 7.
Brazil, Japan and Australia stand in the way of Croatia and a second round place.
