Costa Rica squad cut to twenty four
02/05/2006: Costa Rica have cut down their provisional World Cup roster to 24 players and told injured defenders Harold Wallace and Michael Rodriguez they have until the end of the week to prove their fitness or miss out on a trip to Germany.
Team boss Alexandre Guimaraes announced a 28-man squad last week but on Monday revealed he was losing goalkeeper Adrian de Lemos, defenders Carlos Johnson and Cristian Montero and striker Bryan Ruiz.
However, he said that both Johnson and Ruiz will be on standby in case of injuries or other circumstances.
Wallace is making good recovery from a thigh strain while Rodriguez has a knee injury.
"In the coming days we will see if they can begin working out on the beach, and if they can't recuperate, then they won't go with us to the World Cup," Guimaraes told AP.
"This is a squad we've been organising in great detail based on the characteristics of our opponents."

Alexandre Guimaraes must hand in his final Costa Rica Squad to Fifa by May 15.
