England grind out Hungary win

30/05/2006: Headed goals from Steven Gerrard and John Terry from David Beckham crosses and a late goal from Peter Crouch saw England to a 3-1 win over Hungary in Manchester.

The visitors scored a speculative effort to make the scores 2-1 after two second-half England goals.

Crouch sealed the win finishing an assist from Joe Cole inside the last ten minutes.

Teenage starlet Theo Walcott came on for the last 20 minutes but received little of the ball.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's brand new experiment, with Jamie Carragher in a midfield holding role, looked convincing but had to be abandoned with the right-back position becoming vacant when Gary Neville left the field at half-time.

The England line-up is expected to be same when they play Paraguay on June 10.
