Cesc Fabregas

17/05/2006: Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas could have a good claim to be the break-through Premiership player of the season.

The cultured Spanish midfielder was forced into the limelight after the high-profile departure of Patrick Vieira, who left Highbury in the summer to play for Italian champions Juventus.

Few could have predicted how quickly Fabregas would take control of Arsenal's midfield and few are now regretting the sale of their old captain.

Cesc is only just 19 years old, yet his composure of the ball is reminiscent of someone much older and more experienced.

It came as no surprise when his great performances earned him a place in Louis Aragones' Spanish squad and Cesc could now be in contention for a starting place in la seleccion in Germany.

He is now thought to be right at the top of Real Madrid's summer shopping list, but Cesc first has to contend with beating Barcelona in the final of the Champions League.
