Brazil aware of French threat

29/06/2006: Juninho says France will hand Brazil their toughest World Cup game to date as Emerson and Kaka are struggling to be fit for the clash.

The Lyon midfielder is in line for a first start for Brazil in the tournament if either Kaka or Emerson fail to overcome their respective injury problems picked up in the 3-0 second round win against Ghana on Tuesday.

It sees the 1998 and 2002 champions go head-to-head for a place in the World Cup semi-finals and, after struggling to reach top form so far, Juninho is wary that they will have to be at their best to defeat Raymond Domenech's side in Frankfurt on Saturday.

He said: "This will be our hardest match at the World Cup. They play excellent football and are a good team who are dangerous - and they stick together as a unit and fight together."

Juninho also blasted talk that Les Bleus are an ageing squad. He added: "France will field the best players they have, and their age is irrelevant. We will have to try to play the game the way we want to."

Kaka and Emerson are the main doubts for Brazil, but team doctor Jose Luiz Runco is confident Lucio and Robinho, who have also picked up knocks in recent days, should be fit.
