Blades eye Boateng deal

24/06/2006: Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has emerged as a shock target for Premiership new-boys Sheffield United.

Blades chief Neil Warnock is working overtime to bolster his squad ahead of the return to the big time and Boateng is on his shopping list, according to reports.

Boateng, who is poised to start in place of the suspended Michael Essien when the Black Stars face Brazil in the second round, is said to be valued at around £1.5million by his club ALK Stockholm.
