Sweden - Betting Preview

30/03/2006

Sweden will have been disappointed to have drawn England in their group with the current strength of the Three Lions though they will be happy in the knowledge they beat the English to the top of the group in the last World Cup in a group that also included Argentina. They have a side who have been together for a long while now and have an attack most sides would be proud of which includes Barcelona's Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Juventus. They should have little trouble seeing of the whipping boys Trinidad and Tobago in their opening encounter on June 10 with the Soca Warriors not having the talent or tournament experience of other nations. Paraguay on June 15 in Berlin is slightly trickier but not beyond the team they call De blå gula (the Blue and Yellows). Paraguay have some useful players but with many of their European-based players not playing regularly they may struggle to get competitive against what will be an organised side determined the retiring Henrik Larrson can go out on a high. The Swedes will hope either they or England or both have qualified when the pair meet in the final group game on Tuesday June 20 at 8:00pm in Cologne. If England need to win they could be brushed aside by adetermined Three Lions attack which should include Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen.
