Angola - Betting Preview
30/03/2006
Angola face a difficult time in World Cup 2006 having no experience of playing on the world stage and going out at the first hurdle in the recent African Nations Cup. Still, they will be a popular team with the public owing to the recent political troubles in their country and will play football in a willing style. They face a tough introduction against one of the pre-tournament favourites Portugal in Cologne on Sunday June 11 where there will no colonial love lost between the two nations. The Portuguese, with players such as Deco and Ronaldo, will be too sharp and experienced under former World Cup winning coach Luis Felipe Scolari. It does not get much easier for the Palancas Negras as they face group seeds Mexico a few days later.
It could be the Black Hawks will just be playing for pride when they face Iran in their final game with a win not sure to see them through. They do not even rate as a decent bet to go out in the first round so long odds they are for immediate exit. Nonetheless they will be a fun team to watch and exposure in front of the world media will do much to help the economy of their country. Best bet maybe Pedro Mantorras to be top goalscorer for Angola.
