Best World Cup 2006 X1
Buffon has been at his best this tournament despite the match-fixing allegations surrounding the Italian squad and their manager Marcello Lippi while both Zambrotta and Cannavaro have been quietly impressive under the same pressure. A surprise choice is Lucas Neill who I thought was outstanding for Australia in every game he played in and was unfortunate to give away the vital penalty in the game against Italy. Philip Lahm completes the back four having impressed throughtout as well as scoring one of the best goals in the tournament.
My midfield three would be Patrick Vieira, Zinedine Zidane and Michael Ballack.
I have been very impressed with Frank Ribery in every game he has played and he gets a start on the wing to provide the ammunition for the front pairing of Miroslav Klose and Ronaldo.
