Argentina still to accept Pekerman resignation

02/07/2006: Argentina have not yet made a decision over whether to accept Jose Pekerman's resignation as national coach.

Pekerman decided to quit as boss after his side were defeated by Germany at the quarter-final stage on penalties after the game had finished one apiece.

However, Argentina Football Federation president Julio Grondona is keen for Pekerman to stay on in the role, particularly as his side played some of the best football at the World Cup despite their early exit, and admits Pekerman's decision came out of the blue.

"I did not hope for it," said Grondona.

"It is not the moment to talk about it. Nothing is finalised. I am going to think about that in Buenos Aires, when it is quieter.

"No team played better than Argentina in the World Cup.

"Sometimes, we pressed Germany back. The team showed a good level of football. We just lacked luck and ability in the final metres."

Comments on: Argentina still to accept Pekerman resignation

02/07/2006: Well Pekerman must go, he is an efficent but not an effective coach. He is good manager but not a good leader. He lacks the ability to carry out SWOT Analysis ( strength, weakness, oppourtunity and threat). He should have learned from Bilardo, the former Argentina coach of 1986 to always be on the offensive. People in our region of Pakistan, India and Bangaldesh are very upset at the loss for Argentina because of Pekerman's insipid planning. He should have played Messi, if you have strong potent weapon one must use it. I don't know if Messi cannot play in the quarter finals , then he will play where? in the streets of argentina. Let Pekerman leave and someone inspirational to replace him and to optimize the talent of Argentina.

03/07/2006: Argentina success is surely based on Argentina's youth generation. Who can understand and know that generation better than Pekerman at the moment? Probably Pekerman is the best cause he himself has led that generation to the World Youth Championship. Therefore, he should not resign, instead he should learn from his mistakes and how to cope with pressure. I'm still sure that he will have great achievement with Argentina.

04/07/2006: I stongly think that Pekerman must stay. Despite being a consultant and understanding managament well, i will not be theoretical and explain on SWOT analysis etc. I just think he is very good but have only one mistake. He likes to be prudent and withdraw good players early. He made that mistake in Ivory coach match and Germany as well. I think he learnt from the consequence with Germany and he must stay as coach of argentina. he himself likes to breed talents in youths. I can see talent in him. Lots of talent i see in him. He will exploit all these in the future. learning is great. I think he has already learnt.

18/07/2006: He extremely flopped in last year's Confederation Cup against brasil. Let Pekerman leave at least this time.
