Argentina peaked too soon

20/06/2006: Hernan Crespo claims Argentina will find it hard to recreate their display in the 6-0 win over Serbia & Montenegro against Holland.

The Chelsea striker was on the scoresheet last Friday as the South Americans put on a sizzling performance to see of the Serbs, while also sending out a warning of their intent to leave Germany with the World Cup trophy in their grasp next month.

Argentina are preparing to face the Dutch on Wednesday evening to determine who will top Group C and Crespo is wary that fans and observers will be expecting a repeat performance from what they produced in Gelsenkirchen last week.

He said: "I'm very proud that I played a part in that match and was part of a historic event. But I feel it will be difficult to improve on the level we showed against Serbia and Montenegro.

"We put on a great performance and the challenge now is to maintain it. We must not give our rivals the confidence that will make them believe they can win.

"We must manage the game as we did against Serbia & Montenegro, although that will be tough."
