Aragones eyes big prize

Spain real music tones!16/06/2006: Spain boss Luis Aragones believes that his side can lift the World Cup following their opening victory over Ukraine.

The Spanish looked impressive as they recorded the tournament's biggest victory so far with David Villa scoring twice against the tournament newcomers in a 4-0 win.

Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso scored the other goals and Spain now comfortably top the group, after Tunisia and Saudi Arabia played out a 2-2 draw.

Although it is still early in the tournament, Aragones feels that his side can shed the tag of perennial underachievers and go all the way.

"It will depend on many things of course but I believe we are taking big steps forward," he stated.

"The team is better prepared, both physically and mentally now, so maybe that will enable us to win the championship.

"We have extraordinary players in Spain and I think we can put together a great team.

"We know exactly where we want to go and these players certainly know how to play football."

Spain face Tunisia in Stuttgart on Monday before their final Group H game against Saudi Arabia next Friday in Berlin.
