Anibal treks to South America
19/04/2006: Paraguay coach Anibal Ruiz has a busy few days ahead of him, with trips to Argentina and Brazil scheduled to assess the form of some of his World Cup hopefuls.
In between he will return to his native Uruguay and pick up an award for being the best coach in South America in 2005.
His trip to Argentina will see him checking on the well-being of such players as Juan Daniel Caceres, Jorge Nunez, Justo Villar, Diego Gavilan, Jose Saturnino Cardoso and Julio Cesar Caceres.
Ruiz has confirmed he will publish his 23-man squad on May 15 – the latest date Fifa will accept nominations.
"We have a base, but there is no reason to hurry. We have to respect the timetable, and although we have everything set, we won't publish until the day," he said.
Next stop after the award ceremony in Uruguay is Brazil where he is expected to run the rule over Carlos Gamarra, Julio Manzur and Cesar Ramirez.
