Injury blow for striker
12/06/2006: Striker Ali Daei could miss Iran's clash with Portugal next Saturday after suffering from a back injury during a training session.
The 37-year-old, who has been a key figure in the national squad, is to have a scan and under go treatment to determine his fate.
It seems unlikely that he will be fit in time for their next game but the team are hopeful that he may be back for their final group game against Angola on June 21.
However, team coach Branko Ivankovic isn't optimistic of a quick recovery, and he said: "Ali Daei did not train today because of a back injury. I think it is very hard for him to play against Portugal."
