All change for Angola

05/06/2006: Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves has hit upon the system that may save his side from humiliation at World Cup 2006.

After a poor tournament in the African Nation's Cup Goncalves has decided to deploy a 4-5-1 system instead of the usual 4-4-2 formation with captain Fabrice Akwa playing as a solo striker.

Akwa, considered Angola's star player, has admitted it will take time to get used to the new system.

"As it's new, we're still getting used to it, adapting ourselves to this style of game so we can be prepared for the game against Portugal. But we don't have much time left to get ready," he said to the Daily News.

"The coach thinks it's better for us. As a player, I have to accept and respect his tactical option. But as we're adapting to a new system, we have to concentrate harder,"

Angola are competing in their first World Cup and are currently the second worst rated in the Fifa rankings.
