Advocaat to quit as coach

03/05/2006: South Korean coach Dick Advocaat looks set to quit the Asian Tigers after the Fifa World Cup 2006.

Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Advocaat said: "It's true that several sides have shown an interest in me, but at the moment I'm not in concrete negotiations with anyone."

The Dutchman has been in charge of the Koreans since October 2005 and is hoping to emulate the great South Korea manager Guus Hiddink who led the nation to the Wolrd Cup semi-finals in 2002 in Japan and South Korea.

The teams currently courting Advocaat are Zenit St. Petersburg and PSV Eindhoven. PSV chairman Rob Westerhof currently leads the chase and has made public his plans to capture Advocaat after Hiddink's move to coach Russia after Fifa World Cup 2006.

Of PSV's interest Advocaat said: "Between 1995 and 1998 I had a fantastic time there.

"Nobody knows the team better than me."
