Fabio Capello's England team will set up their World Cup base at The Royal Bafokeng Campus in Phokeng near Rustenburg from June 4 and hopefully they will be there until the World Cup final on July 11.

The Italian decided this site was best after visiting four potential bases although the

Should red be the colour?

England World Cup Blog

Written by Matthew Pitt Monday, 29 March 2010 16:16

Whilst everyone throughout the world knows England in the famous white kit, I argue that this summer the team should wear the England World Cup away kit.

England launched their new World Cup away kit in February, at a Kasabian gig in, of all the places available in the world, Paris. The unveiling of the all red uniform

Who did Sven shag to get this job?

England World Cup Blog

Written by Kris Mole Monday, 29 March 2010 15:24

Former England manager Sven Gordon Eriksson (it was Gordon, wasn’t it?) has been appointed manager of the Ivory Coast for the World Cup finals.

The 62-year old sex God is also confident that he has good enough players to be able to get the Ivory Coast through the so-called ‘group of death’ with one of either Brazil, Portugal or North Korea. Well, it won’t be North Korea, will it? Don’t know why I even bothered writing them in the list.

Limmy to support England in the World Cup?

England World Cup Blog

Written by Dave Allan Saturday, 27 March 2010 23:05

I recently wrote to Scottish comedy performer Brian Limond aka Limmy asking him whether he was going to be supporting England in the World Cup in response to a comment he had made on his Twitter account regarding James Corden's Sports Relief video.

I was after a story for the site. This web promotion is a tough business these days. A quick quote from him would have made a nice story - even better if he had been supporting England.

England's greatest 10 goals

England World Cup Blog

Written by Kris Mole Friday, 26 March 2010 15:15

Found this video of England's greatest 10 goals and was wondering which ones you people would add in to the mix.

Personally, I think this is missing David Platt's last minute winner against Belgium in 1990. Now that was a goal!

Great to see Waddle, Hoddle and Gazza in here, though. Legends.

England win the World Cup!

England World Cup Blog

Written by Matt Pitt Wednesday, 24 March 2010 13:09

It is 1966 and England have just won the World Cup for the first time ever after beating West Germany 4-2 in the final, thanks in part to a hat-trick from Geoff Hurst.

In the domestic season Liverpool won their record seventh title, after a 2-0 against Stoke City put enough distance between them and their nearest rivals Leeds United and Burnley.

The 1966 World Cup was already shrouded in controversy before a ball had been

Matjaž Kek says England can win it

England World Cup Blog

Written by Kris Mole Wednesday, 24 March 2010 11:53

Slovenia manager Matjaž Kek, despite being one of the men tasked with plotting England’s downfall this summer, is convinced the 3 Lions can go all the way and lift their first World Cup trophy since that infamous summer’s afternoon 44 years ago.

Kek told journalists, "England can win it, they have a lot of the best players in the world in their team. They're good tactically, have good players and have good discipline. England is one of the best teams in the world and that's why they are one of the favourites for the tournament.”

Gavin and Stacey star James Corden aka Smithy stole the show on Sports Relief with his comedy sketches and acceptance speech.

Previously, Corden had done a spoof meeting with the England World cup squad but in this Youtube video posted below the comedian/writer is featured with not only David Beckham but also with Jenson Button, Andrew Murray and Andrew Flintoff, among others.

Like a large percentage of the UK population my mobile phone is one of the technologically advanced smartphone. I wouldn't be without it as I can access my email accounts, surf the net and manage my life and work through it if I want to.

Is the Premiership harming the national team?

England World Cup Blog

Written by Matt Pitt Friday, 19 March 2010 12:18

Everyone goes on about the Premiership being the best league in the world but is it really all it is cracked up to be? In my opinion there must be some pretty shitty league around the world if the Premiership is the cream of the crop.

One of the main problems with the league is there are three good teams in Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, Liverpool used to be great until Rafa started smoking crack and buying £10m donkeys, three or four half decent teams

Martin O'Neill in drug-smoking scandal

England World Cup Blog

Written by Kris Mole Thursday, 18 March 2010 18:56

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill was caught last week smoking marijuana.

OK, he wasn't really, but after listening to some of the things he had to say, you'd be forgiven for thinking he'd been inhaling something illegal.

Just to reiterate, this site is not claiming for one second that Martin O'Neill has ever touched illegal substances! No law suites please.

According to the Northern Irishman, the gap left by David Beckham on the right side of midfield should be filled by Stewart Downing.

Stewart Downing!

This game looks tasty

England World Cup Blog

Written by Kris Mole Wednesday, 17 March 2010 16:14

The last time I played a FIFA World Cup computer game was 1998, where me and my mate would play a 4-minute each-way match of every game that was being played later in the day in real life, before then getting his dad to put 50p each time for us on the correct score after we'd 'predicted' it in virtual world.

After about the age of 14 my interest in any type of computer games completely died, and so I haven't really been there to experience the gradual improvements in game play, graphics, etc...
