Robert Green

England Player Profiles

Robert Paul Green was born on 18th January 1980 and at 30 years of age is probably at the point of his career where he could be considered as being at his peak.

Having plied his trade at Carrow Road for Norwich City in his early career it would be fair to say that Green has always been busy enough to catch the eye. The keeper’s performances in his early career meant that although the Canaries were destined for a rough ride and relegation Green would always be in demand in the Premiership.

Sven-Goran Eriksson was also quick to realise that Green was a keeper with enough quality to play at the highest level and the player received his International call up when with Norwich. Injury cruelly robbed him of a World Cup squad place last time around.

Currently at West Ham, Green has had another busy season and again has produced some stunning performances. His detractors might point to the fact that he is not comfortable with the ball at his feet, but in the art of stopping shots Green is amongst the best in the Premiership. Many pundits believe that Green is likely to be Fabio Capello’s first choice despite the tough competition.
