Joseph John Cole was born in Paddington on the 8th November 1981. Joe has always been regarded as a brilliant player even at an early age and was part of a successful FA Youth Cup winning side with his first club West Ham.
It would be fair to say that Cole has not lived up to the hype that surrounded his early career but his undoubted quality with the ball at his feet mean that even the likes of Wayne Rooney regard him as the most naturally gifted player in the England set-up. With over 50 caps for England the midfielder is no stranger to International football and has also contributed with 10 goals in this period.
In 2009 Cole picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury which stopped his Chelsea career in its tracks and he has only been back in action since the start of this year. Cole’s lack of pace mean he is unlikely to burst past the opposition but his control of the ball means that England can attain a bigger percentage of possession against technically superior opposition.
He is tipped to have a great World Cup and will be among of the fittest of the England players having only recently returned to action following that injury.
