Matthew Pitt is a football fan hailing from Leeds, West Yorkshire
Matthew's first football memory is of the semi-final clash between England and West Germany, a game England lost 4-3 on penalties after drawing the match 1-1. The joy and exhilaration of seeing Gary Lineker equalize before enduring the heart-breaking penalty shoot out was enough to start the then nine-year old's addiction to the beautiful game.
A keen footballer in his youth, Matthew played for a number of youth and Sunday League teams, and almost had the chance to play on his beloved Leeds United's pitch at Elland Road but he gave away a free-kick in the dying seconds of a cup tie between Rothwell Athletic and Yorkshire Amateurs, which was ultimately scored from, knocking his side out of the semi-finals.
After hanging up his boots, Matthew now gets his football fix by watching a wide range of leagues on TV and visiting Elland Road whenever he gets the chance
