As the disappointment surrounding England's World cup failure begins to subside, we look on with envy as the four teams compete for a place in the biggest game of them all. But as we reach the final stages of the 2010 World Cup, who is best placed to bring the trophy home from South Africa?
First up tonight is an interesting affair between Holland and Uruguay, and the Dutch go in as strong favourites. It will take a very courageous performance from the South Americans to reach the final, but you do feel it will just to much of an ask.
The other semi final is a repeat of the Euro 2008 final with Spain taking on the Germans. Arguably the most exciting team to watch throughout the tournament has been Germany, and they are the current favourites for the title, but they face a very tricky game, and this is a very difficult game to call.
Personally I feel that the winner of the tournament will come from this game. Germany have proved there class with their demolitions of England and Argentina respectively, where as Spain have proven class, and in David Villa they have the top scorer of the tournament so far.
Pre tournament favourites, the Spanish got off to a slow start with a defeat to Switzerland, but have bounced in superb fashion, but this hardly surprising given the amount of proven class they have. But Germany have shown they immense young talent, and they could easily emerge victorious from South Africa.
However Holland themselves will feel they have an excellent chance to win their first World Cup. They have impressed so far in South Africa, winning every game, including a superb turn around in the quarter final against Brazil.
It does seem a very difficult tournament to pick a winner from, even at this late stage, and even Uruguay will feel they have a chance. Personally though I can only see one winner going in to the last four.
Spain have so much quality throughout their side, and this is a golden era in Spanish football, you just feel that they feel it is their turn to reign victorious, and despite their defeat to the Swiss, they have an incredible momentum. But having said that, given the amount of surprises so far in South Africa, I wouldn't be particularly shocked if any of the four sides lifted the trophy on Sunday night.

... Im putting it on Spain I think ... Who do you thinks been the best and worst player and team of the tournament so far though? |

... I wish I would have come across this or some other betting sooner. I had a strong sense that Spain was going to win from the start. Oh well... :/ |
