One overlooked reason why Germany are better than England at penalties goes back to games young people played as children. One variation of our game in the park or street is called 3 Ecken, 1 Elfer! (Three Corners - One Penalty)
Instead of taking corners, they would add them up and once there was a third corner it was a penalty. Now, I can't remember doing this as a kid. In fact there were hardly any occasions were you got to take a proper penalty. Could this be the secret to why Germans are so cool under pressure? They are so used to taking them from an early age and also perhaps why the goalkeepers are better at saving them again because they have had more practice!
I'm sure there are a multitude of reasons why Germany has a better record in penalty shoot outs than England but that is just one. Anybody worried about the game may want to check the England v Germany Betting Preview where you wil read that Germany are not that good. Don't worry England will win...and we won't even need penalties.
