England World Cup Songs - No 7 - England's Heartbeat - Shuttleworth Featuring Mark E Smith

England World Cup Blog

Next up in our list of the top #10 World Cup tunes is an oddly compelling track from the Manchester-based singer Mark E. Smith in colloboration with a former The Fall guitarist Ed Blarney and songwriter Jenny Shuttleworth.

Both the song and the video are wonderfully underplayed and the result is very pleasing and certainly a huge leap from the standard jigoistic songs that do the rounds every four years.

We like it here on A2bworldcup, and any video that has the lead singer having a crafty fag is excellent in my eyes.

It is OK. The only decent England out this year is `Green Fields of England` by George and the Dragons.
