It's time for another two bets that might make this World Cup a bit more pleasurable, even if England disappoint once again.
Argentina to pick up nine points from Group B – 5/2
While the Argentines had one of their worst qualifying campaigns in history, they managed to get to South Africa, and it will be typical of the Diego Maradona to have a successful time in South Africa.
Argentina were certinaly handed a kind group when the draw was made in December, and will face Nigeria, South Korea and Greece in Group B. While none of these are what you would call bankers, with the class that Argentina have they should have enough to pick up three wins comfortably.
Recent form suggests that this will be a big ask, but Argentina did emerge from a friendly in Germany victorious, and in Lionel Messi, they have a player who should tear these so called lesser nations apart. So at 5/2 this is defiantly worth a bet.
Ghana to be the top African team – 10/3
To be honest I am not to sure of this bet, but it seems to have a fairly good chance of coming in. Ghana along with Ivory Coast they are the two stand out teams from Africa, and with Ivory Coast been drawn in the in Group G along with Portugal and Brazil, Ghana could quite well go further then their African counterparts.
Ghana themselves have a tough group, to overcome Germany and Serbia they will have to be at their best. But if Michael Essien is fit, they have a midfielder who can compete with any in terms of quality.
The other African teams competing in South Africa this summer are Algeria, Nigeria, and of course the hosts, and none of them should have enough to come out of relatively tough groups. If Ghana can pip Serbia to qualification from Group D then this bet should come in. So at 10/3 this just might be worth a look.

... I've got a feeling Ivory Coast might pip Portugal to 2nd spot in their group, while there's no way at all that I can see Ghana getting any luck in their group. |
