According to news reports over the past couple of days, the UK has donated a million quid to South Africa to buy condoms in a bid to combat HIV and Aids, as the African nation builds up for this summer's World Cup.
South Africa claims to need a billion johnnies this year as it anticipates extra demand from foreign football fans.
Now call me cynical, but doesn't that sound a little bit over the top?
South Africa is expecting around 450,000 foreigners to attend the competition, which if you ask me, also sounds like a bit of an exaggeration. Can you really see almost half a million people making the journey?
But let's just assume that they're spot on with their estimates.
That still works out to 222 shags per visitor in the space of a month, or less than a month if they're supporting a shit team.
More than five million people in South Africa are infected with HIV, so surely the message to visiting fans shouldn't be "wear a johnny" but rather "keep it zipped up, at least if you're mingling with the local ladies."
On the other hand, I might just be looking at this all the wrong way. Maybe the majority of the condoms are solely for the use of John Terry.
